Incentive Fund & Stallion Service Auction
Each year the Incentive Fund (IF) program pays out an average over $100,000. The NSBA point was valued at $24.73 in 2023.
All enrolled Incentive Fund horses are eligible to earn money at the Dual Approved Shows and Special Events, where NSBA points are earned.
All NSBA points earned in Open and Amateur classes will be paid out annually, excluding Novice and Green.
In addition, horses enrolled in the IF are eligible to earn Smart Points.
Eligibility
Eligibility is determined by the sale of the sire’s breeding services through the NSBA Stallion Service Auction in the foaling year. Eligible horses can enroll anytime as a weanling through two years old.
Foal Enrollments:
By December 15th of foaling year - $125
(Sliding scale for multiple foal enrollments)
December 16th – May 15th of yearling year - $200
After May 15th of yearling year - $1,000
Two year olds - $2,000
Payout
Each year, stallion owners donate a breeding to the Stallion Service Auction. Proceeds from the auction are paid out annually to Incentive Fund enrolled point earning horses.
Stallion nominators receive 10%
Foal nominators receives 10%
Foal owner receives 80%

Stallion Service Auction
Beginning October 1st all stallion breeding services will be offered at 75% of the advertised breeding fee. Horses not sold during October will then be available to "Buy It Now" at half their advertised fee, plus $100. The minimum fee for a stallion to sell, is $400 ($300 minimum breed fee plus $100 administrative fee).
The minimum fee for stallions standing private treaty, or not at all to the public, is $700 ($600 private treaty breeding fee plus $100 administrative fee). The mare owner must be a current NSBA member to purchase a stallion’s breeding.
Grandfather Clause
Any stallion not enrolled or sold in the Stallion Service Auction, may grandfather into the program any year following the foaling year for a fee of $800. All offspring from that foaling year would then be eligible to enroll.
If the grandfather fee is paid by a person other than the stallion owner, a waiver signed by the stallion owner must be submitted to the National Snaffle Bit Association.
A transaction fee of $45 is required for transfer of ownership, change in the name of horse and duplicate certificates. A copy of the horse’s registration papers showing current ownership must accompany the transfer.
